Brush Ceramic Products Inc. announced a new material, BW3250, that offers a significant increase in thermal conductivity as compared to standard beryllium oxide (BeO). The material is well suited for use as an insulating material in high-power RF and microwave power transistor packages and electron devices such as inductive output tubes that power broadcast transmitters and radar systems. BW3250 now delivers thermal conductivity (TC) of greater than 325 W/mK at room temperature, an increase of over 15% from the 285 W/mK that was previously obtainable. The company expects that the benefits in heat dissipation afforded by the advancement will allow devices employing BeO to deliver higher RF outputs.
Brush Ceramic Products has recently made other enhancements to its BeO products, including the ability to produce BeO plates measuring up to 4.5 inch x 4.5 inch, which reduces cost by allowing a greater number of patterns to be created on a single plate. In addition, the company's new BW1000 substrates increase material strength by up to 25% to 38,000 lb./in.2.
Advanced BW3250 is available from Brush Ceramics for evaluation today. For more information, visit www.brushceramics.com , call (520-746-0251).
