MUNICH, Germany During the upcoming ANGA Cable trade show, the Institute for Broadcasting Technology (Munich, Germany) will showcase a test platform for various digital TV standards. With the platform, the institute intends to offer a professional quality assurance tool for network operators and manufacturers of receivers.
The device which supports DVB-T, DVB-S, DVB-C and DVB-IPTV will enable users to measure modulation parameters, video and sound signals as well as service information carried on the same signal. The platform allows also to monitor signals regarding the protection of minors transmitted along the video signal as well as digital rights management, encryption and similar informations. Automated processes allow for the measurement of up to ten receivers at the same time.
It is also possible to generate various error scenarios, said Franz-Josef Lehbruner, manager of the institute's mission-oriented research activities. "With the platform, we allow our customers to offer STB examination and analysis as a service," Lehbruner said. The institute which is funded by public broadcasters in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, also hopes to promote the digitization of Europe's TV landscape with its move.
The ANGA Cable trade fair will take place in Cologne from May 27 through May 29.
